A sweet, sweet day

Every week John and I gather with a few friends to watch Lost (shh, don’t tell anyone. They’ll think we’re ridiculous.) Everyone brings something to the event. People with full time jobs bring a six pack of beer or a bottle of wine. Sometimes hummus. img_4222Those of us who are lucky enough to have long afternoon hours at home tend to bring something homemade and while I’ve had long morning and afternoon hours I’ve really stepped it up. Last week I made a curried spinach dip and garlic naan. This week, because the world feels very bittersweet I made something simply sweet: mini cupcakes.

The night before last we went to visit our friend, Jay, and as we walked in and this song was playing. Now I’m walking around humming it all the time like a lullaby.

And because one box of cake mix makes so many mini cupcakes, I sent two dozen with John to work in the hopes of a “sweet, sweet day” without the bitter ending.
